Review: Fast Five

Fast Five is about former cop Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) partners with ex-con Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) on the opposite side of the law.

Since Brian and Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster) broke Dominic out of custody, they've blown across many borders to elude authorities. Now in Rio de Janeiro, they must pull one last job in order to gain their freedom.

As they assemble their elite team of top racers (and utility men), the unlikely allies know their only shot of getting out for good means confronting the corrupted businessman who wants them dead for crossing his territory.

But he's not the only one on their tail. Hard-nosed federal agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) was on a mission to stop them as well.

When he was assigned to track down Dominic and Brian, he and his strike team launched an all-out assault to capture them. Putting on several gadgets and methods in order to be successful.

Overall, the movie was filled with excitement and definitely gave a huge rush of adrenaline to the audience. The scenes were well plotted and the actions were just awesome.

In this edition of Fast and Furious, there isn't much about cars though. Just some fast cars in the beginning of the movie, some car chases here and there and notably, the group stole police cars and had a quick race on the road.

One of my favourite characters is definitely Han Lue, played by Korean Sung Kang.

fast five hand and gisele

He had a crush on Gisele Harabo (Gal Gadot) throughout the movie and ended up being together at the end of the show. Somehow his coolness emits a certain attraction. Perhaps it's his wavy hair, or just his steady and calm personality.

Also at the end of the show, Dominic ended up with Elena Neves (Elsa Pataky) the policewoman who collaborated with Hobbs in the mission to capture Dominic and Brian.

Not expected though, since there were signs of attraction between the two when Elena wore Dominic's cross necklace that she found it on the ground. Eventually Dominic looked for her and took it back.

The rest of the characters which formed the "ultimate" group were more or less additional actors who took part in the movie. The movie still focuses on Dominic, Brian and Mia - and also a little of Hobbs.

So the purpose of a "last job" was to steal the money from a corrupted businessman in Rio de Janeiro. As the saying goes "Good guys always win" - yes, that could be applied to this movie. They successfully extracted the huge-ass safe box with only 2 cars (which is quite impossible in reality I guess) and they all went their own ways as instant millionaires.

Noobie Rating: 8/10 (Not about cars, but must watch!)

Captain America: The First Avenger Trailer

Captain America: The First Avenger is based on the Marvel Comics character from World War II. A brave and young soldier named Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), volunteers to undergo a series of experiments for a US army Super Soldier program.

The military succeeds in transforming him into a human weapon, but quickly decide that their Super Soldier is far too expensive a creation to risk in combat. So, they decide to put him to use as an army celebrity and parade him across Europe to boost morale.

He is even given a costume that bear the colors of Old Glory for the stage. Then, when a Nazi plot reveals itself Rogers must rise up and and become the First Avenger, in order to save his country.

Steve Rogers becomes Captain America and he earns his way into the hearts and souls of every American, bringing hope and justice to the nation. Later, during a mission to Germany to stop his archenemy - The Red Skull, Captain America sacrifices himself and winds up frozen in ice for almost six decades!

Revived, Steve Rogers now must join forces with new heroes and become an Avenger of the modern age. Definitely with other Avengers such as Iron Man and Thor.

You can notice its connection with Iron Man when one of the scientists said "Now Mr. Stark" - no doubt he's Tony Stark's dad. It's gonna be so awesome!

Review: Limitless

Limitless is an action-thriller about a writer who takes an experimental drug that allows him to use 100% of his mind.

As one man evolves into the perfect version of himself, he forces more corrupt than he can imagine mark him for assassination. Out-of-work writer Eddie Morra's (Bradley Cooper) rejection by girlfriend Lindy (Abbie Cornish) confirms his belief that he has zero future.

That all vanishes the day an old friend introduces Eddie to NZT, a designer pharmaceutical that makes him laser focused and more confident than any man alive. Now on an NZT-fueled odyssey, everything Eddie's read, heard or seen is instantly organized and available to him.

As the former nobody rises to the top of the financial world, he draws the attention of business mogul Carl Van Loon (Robert De Niro), who sees this enhanced version of Eddie as the tool to make billions.

But brutal side effects jeopardize his meteoric ascent. With a dwindling stash and hit men who will eliminate him to get the NZT, Eddie must stay wired long enough to elude capture and fulfill his destiny. If he can't, he will become just another victim who thought he'd found invincibility in a bottle.

Fortunately, Eddie managed to withstand all the challenges and problems faced throughout the whole NZT ordeal. The movie ends with everything going to his side.

Overall, the movie was good. Lots of surprises and anticipation. Various unpredictable scenes and exciting actions as well. Eddie's life changed dramatically throughout the whole duration. From a practically poor writer to a financial dude to one of the powerful men around town, he had to thank the NZT for making him who he became.

He also got back his lover, Lindy, due to his change of life and she eventually found out that he was on NZT drug. Nevertheless, she stayed together with him and supported him. Things went ordinary again when Eddie started to control his dosage of NZT.

Robert De Niro's Carl Van Loon character just spiced things up in Limitless. His appearance pushed Eddie to more limits and forced him to face more problems. Despite that, Eddie managed to be one of the top personnel in Van Loon's company. At the end of the story, it was revealed that Van Loon knows all about Eddie's NZT intake and told him that all the factory producing it has been closed down - threatening him about the limited time he has with the limited NZT pills.

Abbie Cornish's Lindy was sweet and strong at the same time - it totally complement Bradley Cooper's character, which could be fragile and insecure.

Noobie Rating: 7/10 (Good movie, way better than Source Code)
