Thor is about the warrior Thor (Chris Hemsworth) being cast out of the fantastic realm of Asgard by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) for his arrogance and sent to Earth to live among humans.
Falling in love with scientist Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), she teaches Thor much-needed lessons and his new-found strength comes into play as a villain from his homeland sends dark forces toward Earth.
Being banished by his father Odin, Thor ended up on Earth and met a team of scientists that consists of Jane Foster, Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) and Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgård). They eventually assisted Thor while he was wandering around.
Thor's nemesis (also formerly known as his brother) Loki took over the realm of Asgard after Thor's banishment as king, while Odin was terribly ill. Trying his best to prevent Thor from returning and wanting to be the ruler, he tried his best to destroy Thor himself.
Eventually, it's revealed that Loki was actually the son of King Laufey, the leader of the Frost Giants from Jötunheim. Odin picked and kept him as his other "son" while he was still a baby. Surprisingly, Loki betrayed King Laufey as well in order to prove to Odin that he is a better son than Thor.
Thor's mum was glad, but that didn't last long.
Thor survived on Earth, especially with his talented fighting skills. When he wanted to redeem back his Mjollnir hammer from the dirt, he was caught and captured by Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his men from SHIELD.
Later on, Jane managed to free Thor and as Loki got more restless, he sent down the Destroyer to destroy Thor and his comrade friends who came down to Earth to search for him.
A fight ensued and eventually Thor was successful. The funny thing was the men from SHIELD thought the Destroyer is another creation of Tony Stark, the Iron Man. But they were so wrong as the Destroyer started attacking them.
Anyway, Thor successfully regained his power and the Mjollnir hammer returned to him. Dressed up in his usual heroic attire and feeling so much powerful again, he and his comrades returned to Asgard to find Loki and his father.
Thor fought with Loki and eventually, yes Loki lost and he sort of "suicide".
Overall, the movie was filled with good actions and a little suspense. To add on to that, it has several jokes and humor included throughout the show, which made it entirely entertaining and catchy.
Chris Hemsworth definitely suits the Thor character. Strong and masculine, that's what it takes to be the king of Asgard. Tom Hiddleston's Loki was naturally a villain, although he was somewhat the good guy/brother in the beginning.
Natalie Portman did it again by performing well as Jane Foster. Intelligent and smart for a scientist and she portrays herself as a determined lady - which could have been why Thor fell in love with her. At the end of the show, Thor promised to return to Earth after returning to Asgard but since the Bifrost Portal was destroyed, he could only look from above.
The storyline was pretty ordinary and mediocre, but somehow there is a certain spark that comes with it - making it quite a nice movie after all. Remember to stay back to watch the "Easter Egg" after the credits.
