It's boxy and the transformation from robot-to-vehicle concept seem understandable. Also, old timers were well accustomed with it's physical presentation. Simple and neat.
However, with the adaption of Transformers into a sci-fi movie by Michael Bay, Optimus Prime has revolutionized into a more sophisticated and cooler robot.
As a result, the transformation between robot and vehicle seems more complicated and very mechanical. On the other hand, it has given Optimus Prime a fresher outlook.
Despite the massive changes to Optimus Prime's latest movie body, the former cartoon will always be legendary.
