But when his mentor and close friend Harry is murdered (by Bishop himself), Bishop is anything but detached. His next assignment is self-imposed - he wants those responsible dead. His mission grows complicated when Harry's son Steve (Ben Foster) approaches him with the same vengeful goal and a determination to learn Bishop's trade.
Bishop has always acted alone but he can't turn his back on Harry's son. Therefore, he takes a student deep into his world and a deadly partnership is born.
But while in pursuit of their ultimate mark, deceptions threaten to surface and those hired to fix problems become problems themselves. Despite that, Both Arthur and Steve took on assignments. Although Steve was reckless during his missions, Arthur kept his faith and continued cooperating with him.
Soon after, Steve found out that Arthur was the one who murdered his dad when he found a gun, which belonged to his late father, at Arthur's place. Feeling more vengeful, he followed Arthur to the last assignment - which is to kill the man who ordered the death of Harry.
Together, they were unstoppable and finally the man got killed. Towards the end, Steve planned to kill Arthur himself, thought he managed to kill him, went back to Arthur's hideout and died because of a booby trap set by Arthur. On the other hand, Arthur escaped death.
Overall, the movie was fast paced and interesting. The actions are continuous and there are nerve-wrecking situations here and there. Explosions were there and numerous chases occurred.
Suspense and unpredictable scenes were added into the storyline as well, making it more exciting as the audience would be curious to find out what's happening next.
The Mechanic is a typical Jason Statham movie - the character suits him very well, even though it could be too dull and stern - just like many of his similar movies. Meanwhile, Ben Foster's character brings more dynamic and eagerness.
Noobie Rating: 6/10 (Watch it if you're a Jason Statham fan)
